About Forest Concepts
Forest Concepts is an Auburn, Washington based forest products and woody biomass feedstocks company with a new way of thinking about the industry and markets for wood-based materials. Forest Concepts was formed in 1998 by experienced forest products industry managers. Products and technologies we created during the past ten years enable renewal of forest communities through value-added utilization of small diameter materials and other woody biomass. We are a nationally recognized leader in the commercialization of new uses for smallwood and biomass that is available from urban sources and as a co-product of forest management and wildfire protection in natural areas. Our flagship products are WoodStraw® wood-strand erosion control mulch and ELWd® engineered all-wood habitat and bioengineering structures. The professional staff of Forest Concepts includes experienced forest industry managers, design and development engineers, and production operations specialists. In FY2007, our company had total revenues of just over one million dollars, of which 70% was from products and 30% was from research contracts funded by federal agencies and others.
Our Values are founded upon the principles of:

Our Goals are to:

Our presence in both the professional services and manufacturing/marketing segments of the smallwood industry provides a strong foundation for the company's approach to projects. We apply sound science and disciplined management to both aspects of the business. Our contract research is planned and executed in the context of commercialization for the results.
Forest Concepts' investment in technology has resulted in four US Patents and six trademarks. The portfolio of intellectual properties plus well-documented research and development projects form a valuable asset upon which current business growth is based.
We believe the company has turned the corner from being focused mostly on research, intellectual property creation, and brand development to addressing the commercial opportunities for growth due to distribution and sales of products and value-added services. A pipeline of additional technologies and innovations advancing through development should sustain growth into the future.
